Introducing BAT — Book Analysis Tool for Authors
I've released a free web-based tool I built to analyze narrative structure in my own books. BAT (Book Analysis Tool) generates interactive visualizations showing character relationships, scene flow, pacing metrics, and location usage across chapters.
It's the same tool I use during editing to spot pacing issues, track character arcs, and ensure narrative threads connect properly. Currently loaded with data from The Fantasy Casino Murders, it lets you explore:
- Character Network Graph — See who appears together and how often
- Character Arc Timeline — Track presence across chapters
- Pacing Analysis — Visualize scene density and complexity
- Location Heatmap — Where does the story spend its time?
Whether you're a fellow author curious about narrative analysis, or a reader who wants a spoiler-free peek at how the story is structured, give it a try! And please reach out if you like the tool and would like to see more development.
